Preliminary
programme for an international protein crystallography course at the
Department of Biochemistry, University of Oulu, Oulu, Finland
|
The dates for
this course are now set from Monday, January 30 till Friday February 3,
2012.
The teaching and training activities will focus on data collection,
data processing and phasing. There will also be some introductory
lectures on the basics of the protein crystallographic methods (like
symmetry, Argand diagram, phasing). Students are encouraged to bring
along datasets and/or crystals for data collection with our new
microfocus X-ray machine, equiped with a 4-circle kappa goniometer and
CCD
detector.
The program is still under development. The following speakers have
confirmed their contribution:
-Manfred Weiss (Berlin, Germany) (Basic concepts of protein
crystallography)
-Harry Powell (Cambridge, UK) (MOSFLM/SCALA)
-Marianna Biadene (Karlsruhe, Germany) (PROTEUM)
-Kay Diederichs (Konstanz, Germany) (XDS)
-George Sheldrick (Göttingen, Germany) (SHELXC/D/E)
-Chris Morris (Daresbury, UK) (PiMS/xtalPiMS)
-Stuart McNicholas (York, UK) (CCP4MG)
-Martin Walsh (Diamond Light Source, UK) (data collection at the
beamline and remotely )
-Rik Wierenga (Oulu, Finland) (Basic concepts of
protein crystallography)
